Ryan Hersh didn’t set out to start an electric bike company. He set out to save an hour.

Each morning, his commute through Atlanta’s tangled arteries turned a four-mile trip into a sixty-minute test of patience. When he finally swapped his car for a bicycle, that hour collapsed into 22 glorious minutes. But what he gained in time, he paid back in sweat—soaked shirts, commuter showers, and the quiet knowledge that this too wasn’t quite the answer.

Ryan’s background was in business & IT. He knew how to grow ideas, how to build systems and teams. But beneath the strategist lived something older—a boy who raced BMX and tore through trails on mountain bikes, who learned to weld in a rented college garage, who always found himself most at peace with grease on his hands and two wheels beneath him.

In 2015 the idea hit: what if you didn’t bolt a motor onto a bicycle? What if you started with the power—battery, motor, controller—and built the frame around it? What if the bike was designed from scratch to be electric—not a retrofit, but a revelation?

And so, Edison was born.

Built in a living room turned workshop, obsessively refined from weld bead patterns to brake pads, Edison sits at the intersection of business insight, engineering discipline, and a lifelong love of two wheels. It's not just a better bike—it’s a better way forward.

Today, Ryan leads Edison with the same principle that got him out of traffic in the first place: find the inefficiency, understand it deeply, and build something that makes it disappear.
